A few important things…

I’ve been married to the most incredible human for 16 years and we have two boys who are 9 and 13 years old. We’ve lived in Costa Mesa for almost 14 years, and have zero desire to go anywhere else. We like to say it’s the greatest city in the world, and we actually believe it! We’ve got one son at Newport Heights and the other is at Ensign Intermediate.

Let me say that again because it’s an important detail: I currently have kids in NMUSD schools. Since our oldest son started kindergarten, my wife and I have been investing our time and energy in our kid’s class rooms as room parents and volunteers, at school events, on their PTA, and more.

But my commitment doesn’t stop at the schools my kids go to. For the past 7 years I’ve been involved with Love Costa Mesa as one of the Education Initiative leaders, working to make sure that every school in our district had support from local businesses, non-profits and churches. I also made sure that our home church built a relationship with a local Westside school that doesn’t have as many resources or a foundation to help. For 8 years we volunteered and hosted Christmas events, spring carnivals, school beautification days, teacher appreciation lunches, school supply drives, mural installation, work-room remodels, and more!

I say all this to let you know that I am just as committed as ever to making sure the schools in our district are healthy and thriving places for students, families and faculty.

For the past 18 years I’ve done full-time church work, but earlier in 2024 I transitioned out to focus on some other goals and dreams. These days I do design, consulting, and still officiate the occasional wedding.

If you’re looking for me, you can find me hanging out in our neighborhood, riding bikes with the family down the peninsula in Newport, or enjoying one of the many incredible and locally-owned restaurants and coffee shops that our cities have to offer. In fact, let me know if you need some suggestions - talking about food is one of my favorite past times 😂

  • I’ve been a Costa Mesa resident for 14 years, and I’m thrilled about it. I love this city and the community we get to be a part of. As I’ve raised my boys here I’ve become embedded in the community through local sports, volunteerism, being an intentional neighbor, and pastoring a church in the city. Now that I’ve got kids both in elementary and intermediate schools, I’m more motivated than ever to make sure that every student has the opportunity to flourish in their classrooms.

I want to ensure equitable access to resources, support innovative teaching methods, and advocate for policies that address the diverse needs of all students. I don’t just want academic success for our kids, but also the ability to be kind and live well. I also want to make sure our teachers and administrators feel seen, heard and valued for the crucial role that they play.

I have a strong leadership track record of being committed to kindness, authenticity, and transparent communication. I’ll always choose people over politics, and principles over party. I respectfully ask for your vote as we work to create a beautiful future for our children.
